From July 24 to 26, the shores of Carson Beach in Boston were buzzing with the energy of Beach Sprint rowing. For the second edition of the Boston Beach Sprints, Liteboat was proud to partner with the event and provide LiteRace boats for competitors.
With entries up 43% compared with the inaugural 2025 edition, the 2026 event confirmed the growing popularity of Beach Sprints in the United States.
Fast, exciting and made for the beach
Beach Sprint rowing brings a completely different energy to the sport. Athletes start on the beach, sprint to their boats, race out through the water, navigate a tight turning course and then return to shore before running to the finish line.
Short, intense and highly spectacular, the format brings rowing closer to spectators and makes every race an exciting battle from start to finish.
The Boston Beach Sprints featured singles and doubles, with athletes competing across Senior, Junior, Masters and Para categories.
LiteRace boats in action
For the 2026 edition, competitors raced in Liteboat LiteRace singles and doubles.
Designed for coastal rowing, the LiteRace combines stability, responsiveness and performance — qualities that are particularly important in Beach Sprint racing, where quick starts, tight turns and fast beach landings can make the difference between winning and losing.
Providing boats for the event also makes Beach Sprint racing more accessible. Competitors can travel to Boston without having to transport their own boat, arrive ready to race and focus entirely on their performance.
A discipline with a bright future
The momentum behind Beach Sprints is growing rapidly, particularly as the discipline prepares for its Olympic debut at LA28.
Events such as the Boston Beach Sprints play an important role in developing the sport, bringing together experienced coastal rowers, elite athletes and newcomers while introducing rowing to a wider audience.
For Liteboat, supporting this evolution is a natural fit. Our goal has always been to make rowing lighter, more accessible and more enjoyable, whether on lakes, rivers or the coast.
We were therefore delighted to see LiteRace boats on the starting line in Boston and to contribute to such an exciting weekend of racing.
Thank you to the Head Of The Charles Regatta team, the athletes, coaches, volunteers and partners who made the 2026 Boston Beach Sprints a success.
The future of Beach Sprint rowing looks fast, and we’re excited to be part of the journey!
See you on the beach!
